Leopard Nail Tutorial

Happy Saturday!

I hope that everyone has had a marvelous week this week! Here is a little fun fact about me. I LOVE doing my nails. So much, that I used to change my nails with my outfit. As I've gotten older, and I have more things to do, that is near impossible. I thought I would share a little tutorial of some fairly easy nail art that I have learned and it has easily become a go-to. I love to have my ring finger as an accent nail. I think that it really spruces up a manicure.

If you want to learn how I achieved this look... keep on reading :)

I am by no means a nail artist, so bear with me.

Let's Begin!

{What you'll need}
1. A single color to use for all but your ring fingers and as an accent color.
I am using "Poptastic" by Color Club. (get it here) You can use any color you like!
2. A base coat for your accent nail.
I am using "Wet n' Wild". (available at walgreens, walmart, you name it). Any white will do.
3. A thin "striping" brush polish in black.
I am using L.A. Colors Art Deco (available at Dollar General)
4. A top coat
I am using "Top Shine" by Sinful Colors (available at walgreens and walmart)
5. A tooth pick

Pretty simple... paint your nails. I used two coats of "Poptastic" on all of my nails but the ring fingers. On the ring fingers I used a white. I recommend only painting one layer because if it is too thick the designs won't ever dry.

Use a toothpick and get a big glob of paint on the end. This will make it easy to make little dots.

With the glob of paint on the toothpick, dab polka dots all over the accent nail. They don't have to be symmetric!
Tip: don't make a lot of close together dots... it'll make things complicated
Polka Dots!
Here is where things may get complicated. With the Striping brush, make small "U" shapes around each dot you made before. I like to make the "U's" a little jagged, so they are more random.
Tip: Make sure the openings do not all open in the same direction.
One U down

This part was a little hard to explain... To fill in the openings where there is too much white, making tiny little O's and more dots.

Once again, they don't have to be perfect!

Last but not least (drum roll please), a top coat!

{THE END}
My ring! Oh, yeah... and the final nail product. :)

I hope you enjoyed this fun little tutorial! I know that I am not the best, and I am by no means a nail artist. If anyone has any nail suggestions for a tutorial, I would be more than happy to learn the style and post one. Thank you so much for taking your time to read this!

Girls Day

Hello!

I hope everyone is having a great Thursday! I have had a pretty busy week this week. In this short amount of downtime that I do have, I thought that I would share an outfit that I got a ton of questions about. One lady even stopped me in the mall to ask where these shorts were from. A couple of weeks ago, I went and had a pedicure and a shopping day with two of my best friends!

This is a shot of my outfit I will be writing about. Me and Ashley fell in love with the same Jessica Simpson wedges and had to take a mirror picture! The shoes can be found in my previous post Pink and Leopard.

We forgot to take a picture earlier in the day, but we managed to get a mirror shot of the three of us. Obviously, turquoise was kind of our theme for the day!

Here's our toesies! Ashley had coral with silver accents. Haley had a light blue with a white anchor. I had a dark turquoise with... some design I picked out of a book. The idea I had in mind, the lady wasn't able to do... sigh.

Now, on to the outfit.
I have quite an obsession with lace. Lace shorts, lace dresses, lace shirts, you name it. I immediately knew when I saw these shorts, that I had to have them. They are a great length and they sit in between high waisted and low waisted shorts. I can't really explain it. They are the PERFECT color (and my favorite if you can't tell) for summertime. Here is the bad part though... I found these bad boys on sale at Dillard's last year. I actually drove two hours for them. But, wait! I found similar ones. So, no need to give up. Anyway, I get distracted...
I paired my favorite shorts with a white chiffon top with a bow in the back. I tucked in the shirt to focus more on the shorts. I wore white wedges for part of the day, and later I changed into white sandals. I am realllyyyy tall with wedges on, so I decided not to be a giant. To bring in the color of the shorts, I went with a necklace of the same color. This outfit took no time at all to put together, and it is easily one of my favorites. I hope you love it as much as I do!

Please ignore the background today. I liked the outdoor lighting, and I did my best with the auto timer on my iPhone.

Thank you for taking your time to check out my blog! It may sound silly, but maybe somehow this can make someone's day just a little brighter. I include a Bible verse in every post because God works in mysterious ways, and someone may need that.

Patriotic and Pretty: Red, White, and Blue

Hello!

I hope everyone had a great weekend celebrating our country's birthday! On Friday, I had a bridal appointment and I didn't wear anything patriotic to my appointment because I opted for an outfit that was easy to change out of. After I got home, my fiancé and I decided to go to dinner and catch some fireworks around town. He was sporting his red, white, and blue... So, I decided that I would wear mine too! I only have one picture of my full outfit from Friday, but I also have my patriotic outfit from Sunday!

My stylish fiancé, Brandon wore a golf polo, blue shorts, red shoes, and a red belt! He even wore his patriotic attire to work that day! I forgot that I had these royal blue lace shorts, but I decided that they were perfectly patriotic paired with red. I went with a white shirt with a ruffled neckline. Of course, I couldn't go without my red striped wedges and red bandana. Last but not least, I wore a silver statement necklace (see below in next outfit).

{Outfit details}
Brandon
Shirt: Greg Norman (get it here)
Shorts: Izod (get them here)
Shoes: Nautica (Ross find, similar here)
Belt: Nautica (Stein Mart find)

Me
Top: Outlet (old; I like this)
Shorts: Boutique (similar here, and here)
Wedges: Rue 21 (old; I like these)
Necklace: Walmart (couldn't find online)
This is my go to hairstlye (as pictured above).
1. Place hair in a high ponytail.
2. Use a bandana as a headband.
3. Pull out pieces to frame the face.

Voilà! An easy updo!

Now, to my outfit I wore to church. Being the weekend of the fourth, I decided to still be patriotic when choosing my outfit. I think that every girl should have a white dress. There are so many different ways to style one. This is one of my favorites in my closet (broken zipper and all)! The delicate details on the skirt give a dainty and feminine touch. My shoes I found on clearance at Kohls a few years ago. They are cobalt blue and ruffled. They look much darker in the pictures than what they really are. With a white dress, and blue heels, I had to add some red in somewhere. I wore bright red lipstick, which is definitely a favorite of mine! For the accessories, I chose a thin white belt to add to the dress. Last but not least, I wore a statement necklace that I bought during the week on our girls day (I promise again that I am going to post about that).

This deserves its own paragraph. The statement necklace pictured is from Wal-Mart! There are tons to choose from and they are only $10! I really wanted to buy them all, but I settled for just two right now. There are a variety of colors and styles, and they are all big (just what I like). A few are very similar to more expensive jewelry brands.

Pink and Leopard

Hello!

I hope everyone has had a great week so far! I have been MIA because of my engagement (read about it here), my birthday and vacation. I've been a busy bee the past couple of weeks. Yesterday, I had a girls day with two of my best friends! We started off the day with a pedicure, and then of course had to go the mall! (I will be posting that outfit soon) At Belk in the clearance room we came across Jessica Simpson wedges marked down 75% from $98.00. At such an unbeatable price, me and Ashley from "Ashley's Passion for Fashion" (check out her blog here) had to have them. At first we could only find one pair, but fear not, we found another and we could continue to be twins!

I LOVE leopard and use it often as a staple piece. I like to mix it with a bright color. Today, I chose hot pink. To not be too overwhelming, I chose a lace top with the cutest tassel details. I went with a gold chain necklace to not make too much of a statement with what could be considered a "statement necklace".  Ashley (mentioned above) was selling this top at our yard sale and I just had to have it! Great minds think alike, and we like all of the same things.

I hope ya'll enjoy this outfit!
